5 Tips for Success when Renovating a Bathroom In a Toronto Condo

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 , Posted by Bradhaw Plumbing

A bathroom renovation is a sound investment. You use your bathroom all the time and it’s important to keep it in great condition. Naturally, the type of bathroom you want to update will have a big impact on project planning. Even though bathrooms generally are the same, there are some unique considerations if you are renovating a bathroom in a condo in Toronto.
If you are thinking about renovating your condo bathroom, consider implementing these tips for a successful renovation project:

Clarify condo renovation rules and procedures

Before you start to move forward with any changes to your condo unit, you need to be clear on the rules for renovations. This is a very important consideration. Speak with condo management about the processes you may need to follow. There may be some dos and don’ts. You may need to fill out some forms. You’ll also need to consider things like booking elevators, getting access for the renovation team, and getting deliveries of materials. Getting all this organized will help ensure there are no issues once the project gets underway.

Consider alternative living arrangements

If you live in a one-bathroom condo, you may need to stay somewhere else during the renovation. There will be times when you don’t have access to your shower and toilet. So, it may make sense to stay somewhere else until your condo is inhabitable. Condos are typically smaller spaces so contractors may also need access to other areas of the condo to store materials and assemble bathroom components.

Make space efficiency a priority

Spacing is always a premium in condos. Your bathroom is no different. So, make the efficient use of space a key priority for the project. Make it a point to make every nook and cranny usable space. Think about the size of the toilet, vanity, and shower. Come up with creative ways for storage. Do what you can to maximize the space you have to work with.

Use a plumber experienced in doing condo bathroom renovations

The company you choose to renovate your condo bathroom can be the difference between a smooth project and one riddled with issues. Choose contractors with experience doing plumbing and bathroom renovations in condo buildings. They will understand the nuances of this type of project. They have experience working with building management and dealing with the common issues and unforeseen problems that can pop up during the project.
